Specific Media appoints Ian Dowds as UK VP
Former Turner employee to drive the ad network’s expansion in the United Kingdom
London, UK – 20th February 2009 – Specific Media, the leading independent online advertising network, today announced the appointment of Ian Dowds as UK Vice President. Dowds joins Specific Media following four years at Turner Broadcasting, part of Time Warner, where as Sales Director for Turner Media Innovations, he was in charge of advertising, sponsorship, online and new media revenue across the company's leading collection of networks.
In his new role, Dowds will oversee sales and operations initiatives in the UK, developing Specific Media's position as the online advertising network of choice for leading UK agencies. He will be applying nearly 20 years media sales and agency experience to educate clients and prospects on the key differentiators that set Specific Media apart in the industry. This includes the company's innovative behavioural targeting technologies that remove inefficiencies from the media buying process by targeting consumers rather than content, and its Premium Network of publishers that ensures agencies and their customers obtain positive brand associations.
"Ian is a great addition to the team at Specific Media and we are really excited to have him on board," said Colin Petrie-Norris, Managing Director, International, Specific Media. "His experience and track record make him the perfect fit to expand our roster of top brand clients and drive the UK business forward to further success."
By focusing on performance, quality and customer service, Specific Media experienced a hugely successful 2008, delivering particularly strong growth in a sector where others are struggling. The company continues to recruit and expand in the UK and Europe and achieved its highest comScore rating to date in December 2008.
Commenting on his appointment, Ian Dowds said, "This feels like a fantastic time to join Specific Media. There are numerous ad networks in the UK but none have the capability and product set that Specific Media does right now. In terms of its network, reach and ability to deliver the very highest levels of customer service, Specific Media is in a league of its own and the company is perfectly poised to make further inroads in the market in 2009."
